it's like the mexican version of st. patrick's day - everyone deems it a good enough reason to justify heavy drinking! or at least a reason to drink on a "work night". . .

5/5 is a stupid holiday because it doesn't celebrate independence, instead it celebrates a Mexican military victory over the French and that is just a useless reason for a holiday. If every country celebrated military victory over the French, then England and Germany would have the whole year off.
