toilet seat covers

go ahead - laugh. it's a funny subject by itself, but last week, in a restroom emergency, i had a toilet seat cover revelation. it goes the other direction! i'll explain...
normally, i tear out the entire middle piece of the seat cover. this is something i learned or read somewhere, but the stuff they make those seat covers out of is really similar to the rice paper that gets sold in little packets for $5 in the skincare isle to blot your face with to soak up the oils. so i get a 2-for-1; bum protection and mini facial. i don't necessarily do this every time, and when i don't, i tear only the first 3 spots out, and the 'flap' where the inner piece connects to the outer one, i usually put at the back of the seat. or sometimes, i just squat and hover... but that's another conversation entirely.
on this particular day, i didn't get a chance to tear out the entire bit, and in my hurry to get the seat cover on, i put it down backwards - the flap was at the front! after my business, i realized something - this covers the seat much better! i think it's always supposed to go this way! why aren't there any instructions for these things? how many people use the seat covers the wrong way, like me, for so many years??
i took a mini-poll; most people seem to but the flap at the back of the seat. i challenged a few people to use the seat cover this way, flap front, to prove my theory. i have had some validation, and now, i want your opinion: which way do you usually put it, try it this way, and leave me a comment!

;)

  1. I have always put it flap to the front but have wondered if that was right. I am glad to hear that I am not the only one who has thought about this at great length.
