fame

tim went out last night with an old friend from tucson who was up visiting - they had some sweet tickets to the suns/knicks game that brian got from his boss. i guess they watched the suns demolish the knicks by a 40 point spread, or something crazy. anyways, since he was out, and i have to work today, i had myself a little pizza & movie night at home, and watched fame for the first time. i thought i would love it - it's about a performing arts high school and it follows like 10 of the students there, just showing them from frosh-sr years. i was so disappointed! it was terrible!! the intro to the film was okay, but carried on with auditions for what seemed like 20-30 minutes, then tried to do character development and show the difficult life of these 14-year olds as they grew through 18 (but all looked 20-30 from the start) showing how difficult their personal lives were as they struggled with drugs, reading, becoming famous, family issues, pregnancy, and more. and then, when i thought they might start to reconcile everything, it just ended. like that. there was some dancing, but nothing to get excited about... oh well. i shouldn't have expected much - most dance movies are terrible; nobody can seem to find a good balance between showing quality performances, good actors, and decent plot-lines. better luck with the next dance flick i watch, whenever and whatever that may be!
