up north

just returned from an all-too-short visit up north and into the white mountains to see my grandma for the weekend. tim & i decided to break up the drive there by staying the night in payson on friday, before continuing up beyond the rim. we stayed at the majestic mountain inn, which was quaint but nice. enjoyed dinner at gerardo's firewood cafe, where we had wine, caprese, sicilia salad, & primavera wood-fired pizza.  stopped at scoops for dessert, and was good, but they didn't make their own ice cream (it was blue bunny). breakfast and a cup of coffee at the knotty pine cafe in the morning, a few antique stores to walk off breakfast (found a couple of treasures), then it was off to visit with peg. great weather, but very windy all weekend. never a long enough stay, but enjoyable still.
