my veil

i bought a cheap few yards of some tulle that is similar to the color and weight of my mom's veil from over 30 years ago, which, as it happens, is exactly the same color as my wedding dress! i have been working on making my own veil out of the practice fabric, and the trials and errors have taught me a lot.

1. tulle does not make the amazing "birdcage" look like russian netting does.
2. i do not look as good in a birdcage veil as i'd like to think, so that's out.
3. do not use green thread, even in your testing phases, as it cancels out the good parts      of the work you've done.
4. cutting a smooth, straight edge on tulle is harder than it seems.
5. and most important: my veil will be unique and mine alone, so i don't care if you like      the way it looks when it's done, as long as me and tim like it ;)

by the way, it's almost complete! and since i have just about perfected what i want, after 5 tries so far, and once i have it down, i will [lovingly] cut up my mom's old veil and turn it into my own, adding another piece (something old) to the traditional bits of love and good luck (old, new, borrowed, blue) on the wedding day.
